The development of effective cleaning agents and care products which at the same time preserve the environment is one of the major aspects of our company philosophy.
With the MELLERUD Bio range our aim is to develop alternative bio-products as a supplement to our already well-known and highly-effective special cleaning and care products. There is no such thing as an effective bio-solution to every cleaning and care problem, so we have investigated just what can be done under the heading of "Effectiveness with bio-ingredients". We have thus carried out a large number of successful experiments in our laboratories to test the comparative effectiveness of our MELLERUD bio-products.
Protection of the environment from the raw material to transportation
Purity and cleanliness are key for MELLERUD – also with regard to nature. The MELLERUD laboratory team carefully considers each formulation, every component is subjected to critical testing. "As effective as needed, as mild as possible" is the motto. Biodegradable raw materials and surfactants of natural origin are always the first choice where possible. And MELLERUD products are formaldehyde and solvent free.
Protection of the environment also plays a key role in how our products are presented. The compact shape of our bottles conserves packaging, storage space, materials and resources during transportation. Further product features are our child-proof lids and spray guns for greater safety. And it goes without saying that all MELLERUD packaging can be recycled. As a founding member of Duales System Deutschland, the Green Dot (der Grüne Punkt) is as much a part of MELLERUD as the white bottle with the red logo.
Climate neutral printing
Even when preparing our printed materials we set great store by sustainability: since 2010 we have been printing our leaflets and brochures so that they are climate neutral. This means that we compensate for all CO2 emissions produced in the paper manufacture, transportation, print finishing and logistics with recognised climate protection certificates. In this way we are supporting various climate protection projects such as water treatment in Thailand or wind energy in Turkey. At the end of 2011 our voluntary contribution to climate protection was certified by natureOffice.
Bio range criteria
With our Bio product range we go one step further in terms of environmental protection. We use exclusively natural acids, salts, waxes and oils. In place of synthetic solvents and dyes we use bioalcohol. When we need to use fragrances, we only use natural perfume oils or fragrances which comply with Öko-Test consumer magazine requirements.
- MELLERUD bio-products are manufactured free of formaldehyde, phosphate and chlorine, and without any colorant, or any agents capable of forming hard-to-break-down compounds.
As ingredients, we only use natural acids, salts, waxes and oils.
In place of synthetic solvents, we use bio alcohol.
All surfactants used are based 100 % on renewable raw materials.
When the use of perfume is necessary, only natural perfume oils or fragrances complying with eco-tests are used.
It goes without saying that all packaging materials are 100 % recyclable and all surfactants used are easily, quickly and completely biologically degradable.
MELLERUD cleaning and maintenance products can bear the A.I.S.E. trademark. This guarantees that MELLERUD products are manufactured as safely and environmentally friendly as possible, beyond statutory requirements and during their entire lifecycle.
The A.I.S.E initiative "Sustainable washing and cleaning" is a key initiative for detergents, maintenance products and cleaning agents sold in Europe. Companies which take part in the initiative must undergo an external, independent audit and an annual EU-wide inspection of so-called key performance indicators (KPI), in which economic, social and ecological factors are measured.
By using the A.I.S.E. trademark, MELLERUD undertakes to strive for measurable improvements in the areas of enterprise, society and the environment. This includes greater transparency in the use of chemicals, more and simplified safety information for consumers and customers, savings in energy and water, waste avoidance and further improving the social and economic environment.
