Eucalyptus is a special Australian wood that is seeing more and more use due to its extreme hardness, good weather resistance and minimum tendency to crack. The natural components in MELLERUD Maintenance Oil for Eucalyptus and Hardwood help preserve the natural beauty of this wood and protect it from drying out. This natural wood care oil product is specially formulated to care for the special characteristics of hardwoods, e.g. eucalyptus, bankirai, etc. Protection and maintenance care in a single application. Freshens up the colour and gives the surface its warm wood tone back. This care product is based on natural oils. It penetrates rapidly into the wood and protects it from UV radiation, weathering influences and organic growth. The product does not form a film and is free-breathing. It prevents the greying effect typically seen on these woods.
Furniture, pergolas, carports, pavilions, etc. made of hardwoods such as eucalyptus, bankirai, iroko, robinia, etc.
Eucalyptus and Hardwood Maintenance Oil must never be applied over soil or oil deposits, since this causes the wood to turn very dark, and eventually black. Therefore, clean the surface thoroughly with garden furniture cleaner first and remove any stubborn spots with fine sandpaper as necessary, then clean again with garden furniture cleaner to free all pores from dust. Then allow to dry thoroughly. Apply Maintenance Oil for Eucalyptus and Hardwood with brush, roller or a clean cloth to dust-free wood in a thin covering layer. Apply with the grain to enable the oil to penetrate optimally. After 10 minutes, remove excess oil with a soft cloth. Allow the furniture to dry in a protected place. Repeat application as soon as the first signs of weathering are noticed. One application every two years will usually suffice (spring / autumn).
Repeated oil treatment will make for a more saturated wood colour tone - the surface will turn darker.Important: Apply Maintenance Oil for Eucalyptus and Hardwood is not suitable for cedar and softwood types. The oil layer will weather in time if it is not replaced. Cleaning with garden furniture cleaner will accelerate this process. Tips for winter storage of hardwood furniture: To prevent pronounced weathering of the furniture under local climatic conditions, manufacturers recommend winter storage in an unheated room (e.g. cellar or garage) Caution! Product is susceptible to spontaneous combustion if distributed finely on cleaning rags, etc. Soak rages, etc. in water after use.
